9 Symptoms You Should Never Ignore

Woman with headache
The Worst Headache Ever
Everyone gets headaches, and some of us even get migraines. But if you suddenly get what feels like the worst headache you can imagine, and it is not accompanied by any of the other usual migraine symptoms, such as visual aura, you need to call 911 right away. You just might be having a burst aneurysm, which can cause brain damage within minutes.

Woman with toothache
Toothache
A toothache almost always means you have a cavity; and if a cavity isn't fixed soon, it can lead to an infection, which can mean a more costly and painful root canal procedure. Perhaps more importantly, that infection can also spread to the rest of your body if not stopped soon enough. So if you have a toothache, get to the dentist sooner rather than later. It won't fix itself!

Diarrhea and Constipation
Everyone gets the occasional bout of diarrhea or constipation, but if either of these lasts for more than a few days, it's time to get the doctor involved. Constipation that lasts more than a few days, especially if it's not relieved by a stool softener, could mean intestinal blockage, tumor or prolapse. Prolonged diarrhea can cause dehydration and can mean you have any one of several serious problems:

  parasite infestation
    cancer
    Chron's disease
    pancreas or gall bladder problems

Woman with abdominal pain
Sharp Pain in Your Right SideIf you have a sharp pain in your right side, especially one that started at your belly button, and is accompanied by nausea and a fever, there is a good chance that you have appendicitis. Appendicitis can be fatal if not treated soon enough. If you feel you have these symptoms, it is best to go to the hospital ASAP.

 Unexplained Weight Loss
Almost everyone is looking to lose a few pounds, but if you suddenly find yourself losing weight without trying, it could be a sign of a significant health problem, like:
 hyperthyroidism
    cancer
    diabetes
    liver disease

Woman with fever
Fever
A fever can be a normal reaction to a minor infection, or it can be a life-threatening symptom. Sometimes it is hard to know the difference. A good guideline is that any fever above 103 degrees deserves a trip to the doctor. Also, any fever lasting more than three days should be checked out; it could signal more than just a reaction to a minor bug. It could signal your body reacting to something much more serious, like:
urinary tract infection
    tuberculosis
    cancer

A Changing Mole

We all probably have at least a few moles, but if you suddenly notice that a mole you have had on your arm or leg looks bigger, darker or a different shape than it used to, it's time to get it checked out. This is may be a sign that it has developed into a melanoma or skin cancer.

Shortness of Breath
If you can barely get a breath of air and are gasping for breath, this definitely warrant an immediate trip to the doctor or hospital. It could signal a problem like:
    asthma
    pneumonia
    bronchitis
    pulmonary embolism
    other heart and lung problems

Chest Pain
Some chest pain is just heartburn, and some is much more. The problem comes with how to tell the difference.

For men, it is a little easier to tell if you may be having a heart attack. The pain will be severe, and feel like a pressure, squeezing or fullness in your chest. You will probably also have other upper body pains in your arms, especially your left arm, your neck or your shoulders. You could also have shortness of breath and sweating.

For women, the symptoms are much more subtle, but you can generally tell the difference between heartburn and a heart attack by the tight squeezing sensation that accompanies a heart attack. Other symptoms might be fatigue, shortness of breath or throat pain.
