FORMER Chelsea, Arsenal and England star Ashley Cole has signed for Serie A outfit Roma despite interest from Liverpool.
The 33-year-old was released from Stamford Bridge by Jose Mourinho, and had been attracting interest from numerous clubs in both the Premier League and abroad.
Despite finding himself dropped by Roy Hodgson from England's 23-man World Cup squad, Cole found himself inundated with offers, but has opted to pen a two-year-deal with the Italian high-flyers.

Roma finished an impressive second last season to Juventus, and former Lille boss Rudi Garcia has transformed them into a side to be reckoned with
Featuring stars including Daniele De Rossi, Mehdi Benatia and Miralem Pjanic, Cole will find himself competing for all major honours including the Champions League, where he could come up against either of his former employers.

Cole joined up with the Blues in 2006 and won the Champions League, Europa League, Premier League and four FA Cups during his eight-year stay in west London.

The former international won 107 caps for his country, and will be hoping he can build on his success by helping Roma topple Juventus' stranglehold on the Italian league.
