Good business! £30m Tottenham flop Erik Lamela lined up by Inter Milan

ERIK LAMELA could be on his way back to Italy this summer after Inter Milan declared their interest in the Tottenham misfit.

The Argentinian winger joined Spurs from Roma in a club-record deal worth up to £30million last summer, and was expected to become a major figure in ex-boss Andre Villas-Boas' plans.

However a combination of injuries and a change of management mid-way through the season limited Lamela's league appearances to just nine, and the White Hart Lane hierarchy could be tempted to cut their losses and invest in a new wide-man.

Reports in Italy had suggested that the left-footed youngster could be on his way back to Serie A, and now a resurgent Inter Milan side, led by Indonesian billionaire Erick Thohir, claim they are looking to bring Lamela to the San Siro.
The Nerazzurri have already snapped up former Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic on a free transfer, and are determined to add more savvy stars to their ranks.
Chelsea's John Obi Mikel and Wolfsburg's Luiz Gustavo are also high up on Inter's list of wanted men, and Thohir confirmed that manager Walter Mazzarri is keen to add some new faces to his squad as soon as possible.
He explained: "Mazzarri likes Lamela and Luiz Gustavo, but everything will depend on the situation of the market.
"In about two weeks we hope to be able to announce a new player.
"Mazzarri believes in our plan and we must sit around a table to talk about his renewal.
"I want the coach to work mostly with young players, the (average) age of players must be around 26 and a half years old. Football now is different to 15 years ago.
