SIR ALEX FERGUSON will once again play a prominent role in Manchester United's search for David Moyes' successor.
The Red Devils called time on Moyes' ill-fated reign at Old Trafford yesterday after the Glazers became increasingly frustrated with the club's lacklustre form.
Moyes was hand-picked by Ferguson in May but it proved to be a big misjudgment on the Scot's part.

According to reports, Ferguson, who is a director at the club, will be asked for his thoughts as to who should replace Moyes in a board meeting in the coming days.

It is also thought that whoever succeeds Moyes will be given a significant transfer kitty to strengthen the squad.

United are on the lookout for an experienced manager and though Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola have distanced themselves from the position, Louis van Gaal is top of their wishlist.
It is believed that the United board entertained the idea of getting rid of Moyes on Sunday following the 2-0 defeat away at Everton.
Ryan Giggs has taken charge on an interim basis and will be in the dugout for United's home game against Norwich on Saturday.
